Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. To participate, simply do the following: Grab your current read Open to a random page Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's teaser is taken from A Draw of Kings by Patrick Carr and The Ruby Pendant by Dorine White. Enjoy.

A Draw of Kings (Staff and Sword, 3) by Patrick Carr (my review):
"Errol is odd in his strangeness. He's seen more in the past year than most men could boast in a lifetime and have saved the kingdom twice under a burden that would crush most men, yet he still seems a boy in many ways."

The Ruby Pendant (Cleopatra's Legacy, 2) by Dorine White (my review):
The world seemed to dim like a black hole around Melanie, and she felt as if her soul was being ripped from her body by gnarly claws. She placed her hand over her heart , trying to calm the marching band in her chest and allow some air into her lungs. page 35
